Hey Email,

Chances are, one of your first experiences with the Surfrider Foundation was at a beach cleanup. Over the last 40 years, we’ve engaged hundreds of thousands of volunteers who have worked together to remove millions of pounds of trash from our beaches, coast to coast.

That’s why at Surfrider, we think of beach cleanups as the gateway to activism.

From learning first hand about the local impacts of plastic pollution on the coastal environment, to enjoying the immediate satisfaction of leaving your beach better than you found it, joining a beach cleanup is a great first step in joining the Surfrider community.

LISTEN NOW

This latest podcast conversation explores why plastic pollution accounts for 85% of what's collected, why cigarette butts remain the #1 item found nationwide, and how Surfrider's volunteer-collected data, powered by the Better Beach Alliance, is used to drive meaningful change in environmental policy and legislation. Plus, you can learn how anyone can host their own beach cleanup, even without a local Surfrider chapter nearby.

Enjoy the podcast and share it with a friend when you invite them to join you at the next Surfrider beach cleanup near you (it’s super easy to find it here).
