Unfortunately, this great and mighty ocean is in danger on many fronts and needs more friends, like you.

Combating these dangers to protect what we love is at the heart of our mission. Challenges, such as climate change, water pollution, and plastics in the ocean are why Surfrider exists, but we can’t take action without our members who generously fund our work and initiatives.

We are a membership organization for a reason. Anyone can donate to a charity, but members join in a cause. We are looking for friends of the ocean who are willing to join us in our common cause, to protect & enjoy our ocean, waves and beaches.

We’re seeing the impact of climate change on coastal communities due to stronger storms. We’re testing water quality to prevent more people from getting sick at the beach. We’re taking on plastic pollution at its source to keep it out of our ocean.

This important work by our network on the ground isn’t free. It’s funded largely by people, like you, who want to be our ocean’s friend by supporting:

• Water quality testing around the country.
• Thousands of beach cleanups.
• Nature-based solutions to protect our coasts from the effects of a changing climate.
• Advocacy meetings to urge robust ocean protection.
• Coalitions with ocean allies to push for climate change legislation.
• And events to bring awareness to dire problems affecting our coasts.
