When Kim's doctor recommended a follow-up mammogram and ultrasound after her annual mammogram, she wasn't overly concerned. "This was totally normal. I have dense breasts, and had been down this road in the past," she said.
This time, however, was different. During the ultrasound, Kim's doctor did a biopsy. The results showed she had breast cancer.
Kim's treatment included a double mastectomy and an aromatase inhibitor. She also had breast reconstruction at the same time as her mastectomy. "Breast cancer has changed my perspective on life," she said. "I know I can overcome whatever comes my way."
