Andy, summer hunger is urgent. But the need for so many families does not end when summer does.
I’m reaching out today to ask you to think beyond this season and consider the kind of support our neighbors will need all year long.
Across San Francisco and Marin, too many children, seniors and families are struggling to afford enough food. In 2025, nearly 1 in 3 households in San Francisco and 1 in 4 in Marin did not earn enough to meet their basic needs.
That’s why the Food Bank helps provide food to 44,000 households every week across our community.
But what allows us to remain a strong, reliable safety net is the steady support we can count on, month after month, from our Giving Table donors. That is why monthly giving is one of the most powerful ways to help.
A recurring gift creates sustainable impact. It helps the Food Bank plan ahead, respond to shifting needs and continue providing fresh, nutritious groceries for neighbors who are hungry — even when government support becomes less reliable and food costs remain high.
And for supporters looking for other strategic ways to give, gifts through a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF), stock donations or a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) can also make a lasting difference while offering potential tax benefits.
Will you consider becoming a monthly donor and join The Giving Table to help create a stronger year-round safety net for our neighbors?
