The Flying Squirrel Selvedge

The name might sound a little quirky, but there’s a reason behind it. We like giving our pieces fun names, and this one reminded us of something that’s both a little bit hairy and lightweight. Just like a flying squirrel glides through the air, you’ll feel light and free moving around in these jeans.

What really makes this denim special is its unique texture. While it might be hard to see from a distance, the  fabric has a slightly hairy surface, which adds to the character. This is because we’ve chosen not to singe the denim. Normally, denim goes through a singing process, which removes surface fibers for a smoother look. That process is usually done alongside other finishing steps like sanforization and anti-skewing. In this case, we told the mill to skip the singing step on purpose. 

The result is a soft, slightly fuzzy surface that feels and looks beautiful.The denim itself comes in at 10.75 ounces per square yard. This makes it a lightweight option, but not so light that you can only wear it in the summer. It’s a solid medium-light weight that works all year round. It’s lighter than a heavyweight 14 or 16 oz denim, but still substantial enough to give structure and shape.

We’ve also paired it with one of our nicest leather patches yet. The patch has a rich, squirrel-colored tone and is made from waxed pull-up leather. It contains a small amount of wax and oil, giving it depth and a premium hand feel. Over time, it will age beautifully and develop a unique patina.


Another detail we’re proud of is the exposed selvedge coin pocket. It features a super clean selvedge edge in a crisp ecru color, which you’ll also see when you flip up the cuff. The color is a deep, dark indigo that feels timeless. Paired with the texture and lighter weight, this denim gives a nostalgic nod to vintage jeans. We think this balance of softness, structure, and character will make the Flying Squirrel a fan favorite.

The Flying Squirrel Selvedge will be available in a full range of fits including Super Guy, Weird Guy, Easy Guy, True Guy, and Strong Guy so there’s something here no matter your body type or style preference.
