Hi friends!
Rachel here from the Test Kitchen — and I wanted to share a little shortcut I’ve fully adopted this summer: I cook all my corn in the microwave.
If you’re still boiling it on the stove, hear me out. This way is easier, faster, and honestly just… better. Here’s why I’ve completely switched to cooking corn in the microwave with my Anyday dishes:
It’s too hot to cook!
Waiting for water to boil just isn’t happening on a weeknight — especially when it’s hot out and I don’t feel like turning on the stove. With Anyday, I add a splash of water to the dish, press on the glass lid, and microwave it. The corn comes out tender and sweet in just a few minutes.
I want to avoid microplastics.
I’ve tossed all the plastic wrap, bags, and “microwave-safe” trays. If I’m going to heat something in the microwave, I want to do in a dish I trust that's glass, non-toxic, and actually designed for microwave cooking. And when I’m done, the whole thing can go in the dishwasher.
I have fewer dishes to wash.
If I have leftover corn (which, let’s be real, is rare), I just leave it in the Anyday, pop the lid on, and stick it in the fridge. It’s one less dish to wash — and it makes reheating a breeze.
I want an easier way to share it!
If I’m meeting friends at a backyard BBQ or rooftop hang, I’ll microwave the corn at home, cover it with the lid, and bring the whole dish with me. When it’s time to eat, I reheat it in their microwave and serve it straight from the dish. This way is easy, clean, and I don't have to juggle foil trays or deal with leaking bags in my tote.
Trust me — once you start cooking corn this way, you won’t go back.
