Which city is the world’s most populous? If you thought Tokyo, you’re wrong—but so was the UN until recently. It has just changed the way it counts such things, knocking Japan’s capital off the top spot. Even so, Asia remains home to most of the world’s 33 “megacities” of more than 10m people. Many are miserable places to live. But a few, including Tokyo, can show the rest how to improve.
Speaking of miserable, consider America’s family doctors. They’re among the best paid in the world, but in a recent survey 43% reported feeling burnt out—more than in any of the other nine peer-countries polled. Incessant paperwork is driving them mad, as are all the questions patients keep sending them. |
