In Chika Unigwe’s new short story, ‘Good News’, the protagonist, Afuajuba, stands at an open freezer on her late husband’s birthday, holding the last container of stew he ever made. It is a small, ordinary moment that also carries the tenderness of a man who cooked as an act of love, the betrayal that was unravelling their marriage, and the grief that followed.
