The two-month-old chicks are being closely cared for by their parents, with support from our teams and expert advice from Blackpool Zoo, the Royal Veterinary College, ZSL and the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust. It’s a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the next generation of these much-loved birds.

Pelicans have been part of St. James’s Park for centuries, but chicks hatching here is completely new and incredibly exciting. Pelicans usually breed in larger flocks, and many organisations recommend 10 to 12 birds, so a successful breeding colony of six is both unusual and a delightful surprise.

The baby chicks are the newest additions to the family of six great white pelicans already living in St. James’s Park: Isla, Tiffany and Gargi, along with the more recent arrivals Sun, Moon and Star.

We’ll be keeping a close eye on their progress and sharing updates with you as they grow. In the meantime, we hope you enjoy this happy milestone with us.
