Child Mortality Prevention Program Joins Task Force

The Child Health and Mortality Prevention Surveillance (CHAMPS) program joined The Task Force in July. Learn about how CHAMPs will continue its work to use data-driven science to prevent maternal and child mortality in Africa and South Asia.

Joining forces to eliminate neglected tropical diseases

Task Force programs have contributed to extraordinary progress in the fight to eliminate neglected tropical diseases (NTDs). To build on this work and ensure that it is sustained, leading experts in NTDs, global health policy, implementation science, and financing will gather at the Rockefeller Foundation’s Bellagio Center next month to define new pathways to support country ownership of NTD programs. Announcing PJ Hooper as Director of the International Trachoma Initiative

PJ Hooper has been appointed Director of The Task Force’s International Trachoma Initiative program. She brings nearly two decades of experience in global health and neglected tropical disease programs, including more than 15 years dedicated to trachoma elimination. Learn more about her work here.

Timor-Leste Strengthens Health Systems with 40 New Diseases Detectives

A new frontline workforce will strengthen disease detection, outbreak response and decision-making in Timor-Leste. Their new lifesaving skills were honed in the field epidemiology training program (FETP) hosted by TEPHINET. Learn more about this milestone and its significance here.

Voices for Vaccines is hosting  Vax Trivia Showdown 2025, a summer‑long fundraiser where teams collect donations for the chance to compete in a one‑hour vaccine‑trivia game on Zoom at 7 p.m. ET on August  28. Sign up here.

Entries are now being accepted for the Coalition for Global Hepatitis Elimination’s “Elimination in Action: 2025 Photo Contest.” The Coalition invites all those working to eliminate viral hepatitis around the world to submit photos that capture their work in action. The deadline to submit is August 4.
