Dear friend,

As many of us prepare to spend the Fourth of July weekend with family and friends, I’ve been thinking about parents in Venezuela wondering where their children will sleep tonight.

Powerful earthquakes have destroyed homes, and forced families into schools, parks and community shelters. Search and rescue operations are still underway, and many people remain without clean water, shelter, or the basic necessities they need to survive.

When people are in crisis, Mercy Corps is there because compassionate people like you make that possible. In Caracas, we are already helping 140 displaced families and creating safe spaces for 200 children living in temporary shelters.

Because of the trusted relationships we’ve built over years with local partners and health institutions, we are already working alongside communities to deliver lifesaving support where it is needed most.

Right now, your generosity can help provide:
Safe drinking water and hygiene supplies

Safe spaces and essential items for children and families sheltering after losing their homes

Support for damaged health facilities caring for survivors

This disaster struck a country that was already facing an enormous humanitarian crisis. Years of economic hardship and strained infrastructure have left millions of people vulnerable. Now, families who were already struggling are facing unimaginable loss.

We know this recovery will not end in a matter of days. Families will need support for months and, in some communities, years. Mercy Corps is committed not only to helping people survive this crisis but also to helping them rebuild their lives and strengthen their communities against future disasters.

This is not the first time we’ve stood with the people of Venezuela.

Since 2019, we have supported critical medical supplies, maternal health services, cash assistance, and livelihood support benefiting hundreds of thousands of Venezuelans across the country. Although we transitioned our operations to local partners last year, those partnerships have allowed us to return quickly in the wake of this disaster.

Today, families need your help. What happens over the next few days will shape their ability to recover and rebuild in the months ahead.

Please make your most generous gift today to help provide lifesaving assistance in Venezuela and wherever the next crisis strikes.

Thank you for standing with families when they need it most. I hope you and your loved ones have a safe holiday weekend and thank you for carrying the spirit of service beyond our own communities.

With gratitude,
