Mum’s the word… That’s right, we are sworn to secrecy as to the source of this ultra-premium red. We can tell you that it comes from one of the châteaux that recently elected to leave the official Premier Grand Cru Classé classification. Their Grand Vin does indeed cost over $800 per bottle on average in the U.S. and, while this is not the exact same wine, it comes from the same historic vineyards and same esteemed cellar team. This classic, barrel-aged blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc brims with red summer fruit, floral notes and subtle spice hints. On the palate, they combine with beautifully ripe tannins to create a complex, well-balanced wine that can be enjoyed upon release (though do let it rest a few weeks after shipping) and over the next decade. A vintage (and price) to love Overall, critics were highly impressed with the 2023s. James Suckling called it “A vintage to love…but at what price?”…a reference to the fact that the wines are likely to be expensive. Luckily, you don’t have to worry about the cost here. You’re getting an ageworthy, blue chip Bordeaux for a fraction of what it would normally cost…so don’t miss out. Strictly limited to six bottles per household. |
