Tell Your Member of Congress to Act on Rising Energy Costs |

Dear UCS supporter,
People across the country are reckoning with rapidly rising electricity costs and increasing threats to the environment and public health as Big Tech companies seek to rapidly build out power-and-water-hungry data centers in their pursuit of artificial intelligence. In fact, one in three households struggled to afford their energy bills last year.
Instead of addressing these economic, health, and environmental issues to deliver urgently needed relief to working families, the Trump administration—and the majority in Congress—has repeatedly acted to worsen the energy crisis, not improve it, putting polluter profits and cynical politics over the best interests of the nation as a whole. Communities around the country are suffering as a result.
Right now, members of Congress are headed back to their districts for August recess—meet with your legislators or attend a town hall and tell them to: |

Stop Trump administration attacks on clean energy projects and hand-outs for fossil fuels;
- Advance clean energy solutions. Support the advancement of forward-looking energy policies that recognize clean energy, energy efficiency, and grid modernization as key tools for mitigating the energy affordability crisis; and

Confront data center harms. Develop policies and agency regulations that deal with the risks and harms posed by data centers to communities, the energy system, and the environment.

Meeting with a member of Congress or their staff, or asking questions at a town hall, can seem intimidating if you have not done it before. Here are some resources to help: |

Schedule a meeting or find a town hall. Look up contact information for your members of Congress and reach out to schedule a meeting or find a town hall. Once you have a meeting set up, invite your friends and neighbors who share your concerns.

Attend a town hall training. Register to join on Tuesday, July 28, 1:00–2:00 p.m. ET, to learn more about how to show up most effectively and have your voice heard.
