| With his love of history, master’s degree in linguistics from the Netherlands’ Utrecht University and background as a published travel author, Joost brings a unique and informative perspective. As a seasoned explorer, his ongoing travels shape unforgettable journeys that reflect Viking’s commitment to enriching and immersive travel. Based in Viking’s Basel office, Joost is also a familiar face to guests as the host of many Viking.TV episodes and of Viking’s webinars.
Our webinars aim to provide exclusive behind-the-scenes insights and expert commentary drawn from decades of travel and industry expertise. Whether developing new routes or sharing stories from the road, Joost’s passion for discovery and excellence continues to inspire travelers around the world. | Jean Newman Glock is Viking’s Ambassador-at-Large, bringing decades of international experience and “feet-on-the-ground” insight to global travel and cultural exchange. Early in her career, she earned a Master of Science Foreign Service degree from Georgetown University, leading to twelve years in international oil consulting focused on the geopolitics of the Middle East and Arabian Gulf. |
| Jean went on to join the Smithsonian Institution, where she oversaw an extensive portfolio of more than 300 international tours annually, along with the Smithsonian’s student travel program.
Her work has included collaboration with the White House, the U.S. Department of State, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to support tourism recovery initiatives following the Arab Spring in the Middle East and North Africa. Jean also serves as Vice Chair of the Petra National Trust, reflecting her long-standing commitment to cultural preservation and international understanding. | Rachel Bonnici, a native of Malta, joined Viking four years ago and is the Senior Destination Manager for the Mediterranean. In shaping the shore excursions offered in the region’s ports, she applies her extensive academic background and practical travel experience. Rachel received a bachelor’s degree in tourism studies from the University of Malta and a master’s degree in world heritage studies from the University of Brandenburg in Cottbus. As an islander, she is an avid boater who possesses a great passion for maritime heritage. She also studies Arabic in her free time. |
