Friend,

I wanted to make sure you saw my message from earlier this week and that you've had a chance to take action — because the deadline to add your voice is tomorrow, July 13 at 5:00 p.m. ET!

The Trump administration is moving forward with a dangerous proposal that would put political appointees in control of federal scientific grants.

If this rule goes into effect, critical funding for climate science, clean energy and public health research could be dismantled if it doesn't conform to the Trump administration's priorities.

The public comment period closes tomorrow, July 13.

Friend,

The Trump administration has proposed a rule that would weaponize federal funding, turning it into a tool for partisan politics.

Help us oppose this reckless proposal by submitting a public comment today!

Federal funding for science should be based on merit, not politics

This proposal could mandate that grant and related funding decisions align with the Trump administration’s priorities regardless of Congress’s directives.

How? By putting political appointees in control of grant making decisions for federal agencies including the EPA, National Science Foundation, NOAA and the Department of Energy.

Weaponizing the federal grant process would impact everyone who benefits from medical, environmental and scientific breakthroughs – especially areas such as:

arrow bullet Public health: EPA grants fund monitoring of hazardous air pollution right next to our churches, schools and parks.

arrow bullet Utility costs: Department of Energy grants allow local governments to expand reliable, affordable clean energy, lowering household electricity prices for families.

arrow bullet Food and water security: NOAA funds research to track extreme weather patterns and predict devastating droughts that threaten our farmlands, forests and food supply.

Congress created and funded these programs to achieve specific public health, environmental, scientific and energy objectives. However, this life-saving work cannot happen if political appointees can block programs and research that don't align with "presidential priorities.”

We need a massive surge of opposition to stop this reckless proposal. Add your voice before the comment period closes on July 13!
