Coffee on a saucer inside of a cafe

There’s a kind of autopilot we get into and urgency can sneak into the day, and we already feel behind before we're even out of bed. Sometimes it's not from alarms or deadlines, but from the subtle stories humming just beneath the surface. I should be doing more. I'm behind. I'm not as effective as others. I need more than I have now to be at rest.

I've been thinking about questions that turn these narratives upside down a bit. Here are some of the questions I've been trying to ask myself.

What would I cancel if I believed rest and presence counted as a resource?

If I could only choose to do one thing well today, what would that be and why?

If this were easy (or fun), how would it look different?

What would a beginner try here that I’m too experienced to see?

These aren’t questions that push you toward optimization. They reroute you to a different lane altogether. One with fewer potholes and better snacks. They don’t lead to answers so much as loosen the grip urgency has on your spine.

And listen, if you need help remembering that softness is allowed: I saw this picture of little flowers with faces yesterday, smiling like they just got adopted by a kind ferry with a pointy hat from Norway and it was the silliness I needed to let some serious go. More like it from Charlotte Lovely here.

My man Gene gave us a shout out on his dope DIY YouTube channel. Thx Gene. If you all want to feel as good as Gene looks in his workshop, I highly recommend a diet of sharing. It's low calorie, high protein, and it's rumored to increase attractiveness.

Probably a bad idea

A Cool Site / Posters and prints with decaf vibes:
I can't remember how or where Good Mood shop landed in my tabs, but I'm now contemplating how I'm going to fill up my walls with these chill vibes. Any other small shops or local artists (to you) that I should know about?

An Article / Low energy habits that improved my mental health (an article I loved).
Self-care doesn’t have to be loud. This essay is a gentle rebellion against hustle-based healing. Think low-energy, high-comfort habits like the “everything is fine” outfit, 70% effort rule. Soft = sanity.

A Llama / This llama has a 100% chance of improving your day and increasing smiles:
How the heck am I just finding this llama-no-drama account. It was the absurdity I needed to tell the overthinking to STFU. I love this account.

A TED / A carrot flute is what you've been looking for:
Admittedly, is a bit odd. However, it's oddity is what made me stop, watch, and just appreciate. So much of my days are filled with punch lists, and trying to bang out as much work as possible to make sure I'm staying on top of things, and getting the income I need. This was a bit of a break in that cycle. What weird instruments do you play?

A Video / Stopmotion skateboarding is perfect:
I'm noticing that I'm more and more drawn to the things that humans are doing that take time, that take craft, and some willingness to slow down and do the work. This is a remarkable example of that.

You Might Be Taking It All Too Seriously. I Know I Was.

After burnout from hustle culture and perfectionism, I stopped chasing optimization and chose calm instead. Wimp was born from that shift—a rejection of urgency, not ambition. This post is part manifesto, part invitation to join a slower, more present way of living. Less caffeine, more clarity. We're taking the convo to reddit! Come find us at r/decaf_life.
