Margin is not a luxury. It’s a line item. This is our reminder to budget for margin this week. Not someday, not “once things calm down,” not after you reply to that text message from 6 days ago pretending you just saw it.
Now.
Margin for hammock time. For long, slow kisses with your person. Margin for finally opening the door to those feelings that have been politely (or not-so-politely) knocking for three days straight. Margin to notice if your body wants cake or carrots (both are valid life choices, we checked the internet and it told us that it's true).
Margin to tell the inner committee of judgy-ass voices to take a seat and kindly STFU, so you can CTFO.
Margin to play. To go slower on that project so it can be
better, something you can be proud of. Margin to notice your kids being weird and delightful before they turn into large teenagers who only communicate via grunts and memes. Margin to accept your teenagers as they are — oooph!
Not everything gets margin. Some stuff
has be fast. Some stuff
needs to be scrappy. But when we budget for marginon purpose, with intent—we get to decide which things deserve more space. That’s the good kind of power.
He-man would be proud.
So here’s your permission slip (not that you need one):
Take the long route. Say “not yet.” Pause where you usually press go.
Let’s be choosy about our chaos. Let’s margin the hell out of this week.
