Wimp Decaf Coffee Co
Coffee on a saucer inside of a cafe

Look at those little wooden wonderful weirdos up there. That video is from the makers in Ukraine, and the puppets in the photo below are me and my wife and our fur-children. There’s something so perfectly childhish about seeing yourself in painted wood with dangly limbs and a string coming out your butt. It's delightfully odd.

I found this small team last year, and I love supporting folks who put actual hours and heartbeats into their craft. Real friction to make something memorable. This stuff pushes back against the churn of modern life where gifting becomes a checklist. Sometimes the best gifts are those that take time, thought, creativity.

I'm still trying to figure out what it means to be "decaf" in my life, but what I do know is I feel better when life has texture to it, more pause, and some space so I’m not sprinting after the next thing.

So maybe that’s my takeaway this week. I'm asking myself where I can find the slower thing, the tender thing, the weird version, the real stuff. What about you? Where are you finding the decaffeinated stuff in life?

Have a weekend. Let your shoulders drop. Tell someone you love them, make eye contact with people, ask them how they're doin. You got this.

Hugs and High-fives,

Matthew & Team Wimp.

Probably a bad idea

An Analog Phone / A funny hack to get distraction free:
This guy Rillo is into making tech more fun, and this example of a distraction free land-line (bluetooth) hack to be able to have the joys of a single use phone when you're working is pretty hilarious, but also awesome.

An Arty Thing / A collection of collected items
A haunting, clever work from a Chinese artist turning discarded materials into something stubbornly beautiful. It’s part protest, part poetry. Proof that what we toss aside still has a pulse if someone’s willing to look long enough.

A Craft Gift / Embroider your pet!
A Berlin-based embroidery artist stitching entire lives into thread. Santiago turns selfies, pets, and family moments into textured portraits full of feeling. His work sits somewhere between craft, memory, and a tiny act of love you can hang on a wall.

A Short Vid  / Last to cross the line, most heartfelt.
The last runners crossing the finish line long after the crowds thin out. Raw determination, wobbly legs, strangers cheering like family. It’s a small, perfect reminder that every finish counts, even the slow, shaky, deeply human ones.

A Short Vid / Some Chinese choose lay-flat not hustle
A quiet rebellion against relentless grind culture. Young people like Tom Jia are ditching high-pressure cities to find slower, saner lives. It’s minimalism with a pulse—rest as resistance, opting out instead of burning out.

It allows me to have my morning treat without feeling the caffeine all day long."
