Right now I’m in Karuizawa staying with dear friends. This little city might be mainlining decaf because damn this place is chill AF. Then again, much of Japan has these vibes if you play at the edges and allow yourself to get lost a little bit. A couple weeks ago I stood in Kyoto with my good buddy while snow fell in a soft, cinematic way that made me feel like I was teleported back in time about 400 years.
This week I enjoyed having the first cigarette I've had in about a billion minutes. I stood outside in the cold with a friend, talking real life stuff. Sometimes being human is messy and stupid, and just enjoying something so bad it's good. I throw this story in here, because too often we set out rule books for ourselves and others about how to show up in this world. There's no book folks. There's just now, and sometimes now wants a smoke.
It's where we're at with Wimp too. We're not going to do things the normal bananas ecommerce way. Eff that. We're here to build different. Have fun. Get to know you all along the way.
Speaking of coffee,
Bekele, our new Special Project is live, and ready to ship. Cool story. It’s named after Tesfaye Bekele, an Ethiopian farmer who helped reforest his region after wildfires and now grows some wildly vibrant coffee. My kind of dood. For the next 24ish hours you can use code

Trade cool internet for beans?
|
Every week I share links that feel aligned with this decaf life. Design or art that feels thoughtful. Stories that read human. Stuff that's analog and weird. Things that make you pause instead of scroll.
Could I build an AI tool to scrape the web and auto-curate so I can crush the competition? Probaby. Would I rather get to know a few of you and build a tiny crew of humans who send me cool, weird, calm, beautiful stuff? All the way yes.
If that sounds fun, reply with 5 links you think fit Wimp vibes. If it clicks, I’ll set you up with a free bag of Wimp every month. Thx homies.
Have a great week.

A Trick / You can't sticker it to the man The National Park Service had to
update guidelines because people were covering the president’s face with stickers on their park passes. So someone came up with a dope little idea to be able to avoid having to spoil your National Park outing with... him. Pretty dope.

An Art / Drawing ASMR? Yes pleaz. There’s something so chill about watching someone hand-apply screentone with a blade like it’s still 1987. No digital shortcuts. Just patience, pressure, peel, repeat. This is the opposite of urgency. Process without performance.
|
A Cover / Good taste on rectangles. Basically a big curated mood board of standout covers from the last 10 years. If you like typography, weird illustration choices, and cover concepts that actually feel like the book, you’ll lose time here in the best way.
|
An App / If you can read this, I'm already dead. This professor set up postcards to be mailed after they died, so that the people they loved would keep getting getting these little notes from them. This is the kind of quirk I hope I can bring into the world.
|
A Comic / Got a light? A fake cigarette that blows bubbles. That’s it. That’s the product. It’s for anyone who wants to look pensive and tough (but also cute and playful). The whole thing feels like a prank from a nicer timeline. I respect it.

Christian's winding path to chillin' out.
|
Hey folks, my decaf story started about two years into my now near decade old sober life. I'd made the decision to give up booze, but the main reason I drank was to avoid how I felt, and that was still an issue. Blurgh. No hangovers was great, but I switched to using caffeine to keep unpleasant thoughts, feelings, and emotions at bay. I'd start with two double espresso before work, 1–2 more at the office, plus a cup anytime someone went on a coffee run, then another or two at home or out to dinner. Buzz is buzz, ya know?
I became somewhat of a coffee nerd, treating myself to a home machine for my 1yr sobriety date and splurging on good beans as a thank you to myself. Which was all cool! Until it wasn't. I was sleeping poorly, grinding my teeth, and felt anxious and on edge 25 hours a day. (yes, I invented a special hour). Turns out 1000+ mg of caffeine daily can have some negative consequences... live and learn!
So I started incorporating decaf. But I couldn't pull a decent shot with ANY decaf beans I found. (Meaning, they all tasted like dumpster breath). Then I came across Wimp. I was skeptical, but the logo looked cool, and it couldn’t be worse than what I was buying. So I bit, and became one happy and chill dude. I'd given up hope on even decent decaf and now I get to have it as a delicious treat.
Wimp is tasty, but more importantly, I'm more relaxed and less quick to snap at myself and others. Pro move.

Thx for the story Christian. I sent you some swag! Enjoy.

Want a Wimp Tee, a hoodie, or a tote? Send me those anecdotes, stories, and I'll swap ya for free.

I want to know great stories, and you want Wimp gear. So here’s an experiment. Each week, I’m going to send a piece of Wimp swag to one person who shares a story about how they are chilling, calming, or totally messing it up and laughing about it — because why so serious?! Bonus if it's not even about coffee.
Make me laugh, bonus points. If it involves sharing Wimp in a deeply non-performative way, like calling your mom and sending me the video, I will absolutely lose my shit in the best way possible.
We've got limited stock and sizes until we launch a real store, and this stuff is
FREE.
