Coffee on a saucer inside of a cafe

Hey friend,

It’s Thursday, and I’m choosing calm again. Last week, that meant skipping the newsletter because freelance work had me underwater. It’s just two of us running this quiet circus, and we’re doing our best not to buy into the “go faster or get left behind” panic spiral.

You know the one—where everyone else’s shiny wins make you feel behind, like you should push harder, prove more, perform. But lately, I’m trying something different: noticing what I did do instead of what I didn’t. My friend Josh Kaufman got me on this kick.

Here’s my “done” list so far today:

Woke up. (Honestly that one’s underrated.)

Made decaf for after the gym. It's suchhhh a nice reward after working hard.

Went to my 4th functional movement class. Still new as hell at it. Still showing up.

Wrote this newsletter. Takes me about an hour. Worth it.

Told my wife Ako she’s my bestie.

Reminded my son he’s already enough—even if he rolls his eyes hard enough to launch a satellite.

What’s on your done list today? Not your to-do list. Just… what you did. I’d love to hear. When you reply to these it absolutely makes my day.

Warmly,
Matthew

A Product / A camera that writes poetry:
Cameras take visual pictures! But this one, not so much. It looks at what it sees, and writes a pretty dope little poem about it and prints it out. Very decaf vibes here folks.

A Funny / Potty Pants
We all know what it's like to need to go, but you have to take off your pants first. How annoying! Easy access to go when you gotta go. This should make ya laugh today.

A Book / The One Thing:
My buddy Jay wrote this with Gary Keller. If you struggle at all with focus, this is a great take on how to get simple, refined, down to one thing at a time.

A Fact / Sloths hold their breath longer than Dolphins:
Sloths are known for being the kings of chill, but beneath that laid-back exterior, they have a pretty remarkable secret—they can hold their breath for up to 40 minutes.

A Slow Video / A live stream of a waterhole in Namibia:
It's quite incredible to watch this live stream and come back to it now and again. Everyday is different. All kinds of animals find their way to this water in a huge dessert.

Choosing the right grinder for your decaf. (especially for decaf drinkers)

Picking the right grinder matters even more for decaf. Why? Because decaf beans are a little different—drier, more brittle, and can taste flat if ground wrong. We break down how to choose the right grinder to get the best flavor from your brew, every time.
