Wimp Decaf Coffee Co
Coffee on a saucer inside of a cafe

Every week there's some new trick flying around the internet about how to go faster, get bigger, win harder, and somehow come out on top of everybody else. I'm over it. You too?

The sun is shining here in Greenville, South Carolina. My dog is basking in it. I'm working outside next to my wife, and trying to breathe easy despite the world seemingly burning all around us. I'm a lucky to have started the unf#*!ing of my life a few years ago, but boy let me tell ya, the more you do it, the more clear things get. It all started with the idea that urgency is kind of a myth: a treadmill I just don't want to be on anymore.

To that end, we've got some interesting things happening over here at Wimp. We're looking for ways to tell the traditional e-commerce model to suck it. All the ads that poison what was once a stream of our friends and interests, the influencers that use their good looks and fancy words to sway you into believing you "absolutely need this product". It's all noise. No thx.

We just don't want to participate in that shit. It's not Wimp and it never was. We're going to find a different way, and I'm excited to share it with you as it comes down the line.

Until then, enjoy these links of cool stuff and I hope you have a wonderful finish to your week.

A Tool / Your freelance business just got a cheat code.
My friends at Studioworks, built a free library of tools for freelancers, and individuals. Bookkeeping without Quickbooks, rate calculators, fee estimators, even an email helper for those "so about your budget..." conversations. It's the vibe of break free from the Big Tech folks that feels so decaf to me. Bookmark it now, thank me later.

A Cup / Every single one is different.
Studio Arhoj in Copenhagen hand-paints ceramic cups — each one illustrated, each one unique, each one numbered. They're priced as art, and out of what I'd pay for a mug, but I think I'm gonna start posting my fave mugs from now on and this kicks us off nicely.

A Map / 6,707 places to get lost in the best way.
This is a searchable database of every known labyrinth in the world. Churches, gardens, hospitals, farms, prisons. You can filter by material (brick paver, terrazzo, wool tapestry??), whether it's wheelchair accessible, and whether it's a maze or a true labyrinth. I don't know who maintains this. I don't care. It's perfect.

A Museum / Press play on your childhood.
Someone built an entire catalog of every commercially available Walkman ever made. Not a store. Not a playlist. A museum for the device that taught an entire generation of teenagers how to ignore people in public. For those exploring analog, this is vintage pin-ups.

A Bee / She doesn't know she can't fly.
There's supposedly a poster at NASA that says bumblebees are aerodynamically unfit to fly, but nobody told the bee. The science doesn't hold up, but the poster still feels like a pretty dope reminder on a Monday.

A RedBull / Don't worry, I put my cart back.
I LOL'd pretty hard at the absurdity of putting RedBull stickers on the most unlikely of products. This is a little bit vandalism, but playful and non-destructive and so it feels like just the right kind of playful way to eff with the system.

Wimp Decaf Coffee - Kahlo

Light Roast

Bekele

A light, smooth Ethiopian roast that tastes like blueberries and milk chocolate had a baby. Chemical-free decaf process, organic farm, and named after the farmer who rebuilt the whole thing from wildfire ash.

*We don't name coffees after people lightly. This one earned it.

I need 2-3 people who want to be link scouts for Wimp.

The job: send me your best internet finds. Stuff that helps us all exhale. The kind of thing that reminds us the internet used to be fun, and in some corners, still is. You know the vibe: decaffeinated, turn-the-volume-down, step-off-the-treadmill kind of stuff.

In exchange: you get a free Wimp subscription. Real decaf in the mail with your name on it. I promise to hand-pick and whisper sweet affirmations to every bean (possibly an exaggeration). If this sounds like you, reply to this email with your five best links. The folks with the best picks join the fray as link hunters.
