This panda is my spirit animal.
Absolutely me. Today I went upstairs to get the drill to hang something or other on our back porch. → Got upstairs and realized my daughter's plants needed watering. → Decided we need a watering can upstairs. → In the past I would've tippy tap typed that into an Amazon search like a crack-hungry materialist, but Bezos gives me indegestion. → Oh, how about Target?! → Then remembered they're run by political bozos too. → How about Facebook Marketplace. One was shaped like a swan. Hmm. No thx. → Gave up. → Stumbled around my mind hole trying to recall what I was even doing before all this began. (I just rememebered it was the drill. Still haven't found it. I think maybe it's in witness protection.)
That look in the panda's face, you would see in mine, at least 274 times a day. Some people say ADHD doesn't exist. Fine. Lovely. Congratulations to them. I'd love to invite those people to a weekend inside my noggin. Bring snacks. Bring a whistle. Bring a map — worthless, but would be funny to watch them try to use it.
You know what though, having a brain like this is an annoyance, not really suffering. Today the sun is shining, the birds are chirpin like they own the place (they actually do own the place, I'm just a squatter with a mortgage), and dude, it's Friday.
I can breathe, despite what the pollen would very much like to do to my airways, and I'm not sitting in one of the places in the world currently being bullied by insecure billionaire money-muppets. May the bullied be safe. May the bullies be neutered of their powers and toys.
It's good to remember what's real, ya know. What's here, right in front of my sometimes blind old eyes. Even the shitstorms are good teachers. Not that I like them, or that yelling at them helps (turns out shitstorms don't have ears), but somehow I keep coming out with more wrinkles and a little more chill.
Hope you enjoy the links this week, enjoy your fam (or at least tolerate each other), and don't forget to tell some one who needs to relaxxxx that Wimp exists. For every time you forget to share someone is having a caffeinated grown-ass toddler tantrum, or has to drink... gasp... tea at night. The horrors.
