Wimp Decaf Coffee Co
Coffee on a saucer inside of a cafe

This panda is my spirit animal. Absolutely me. Today I went upstairs to get the drill to hang something or other on our back porch. → Got upstairs and realized my daughter's plants needed watering. → Decided we need a watering can upstairs. →  In the past I would've tippy tap typed that into an Amazon search like a crack-hungry materialist, but Bezos gives me indegestion. →  Oh, how about Target?! →  Then remembered they're run by political bozos too. →  How about Facebook Marketplace. One was shaped like a swan. Hmm. No thx. → Gave up. →  Stumbled around my mind hole trying to recall what I was even doing before all this began. (I just rememebered it was the drill. Still haven't found it. I think maybe it's in witness protection.)

That look in the panda's face, you would see in mine, at least 274 times a day. Some people say ADHD doesn't exist. Fine. Lovely. Congratulations to them. I'd love to invite those people to a weekend inside my noggin. Bring snacks. Bring a whistle. Bring a map — worthless, but would be funny to watch them try to use it.

You know what though, having a brain like this is an annoyance, not really suffering. Today the sun is shining, the birds are chirpin like they own the place (they actually do own the place, I'm just a squatter with a mortgage), and dude, it's Friday.

I can breathe, despite what the pollen would very much like to do to my airways, and I'm not sitting in one of the places in the world currently being bullied by insecure billionaire money-muppets. May the bullied be safe. May the bullies be neutered of their powers and toys.

It's good to remember what's real, ya know. What's here, right in front of my sometimes blind old eyes. Even the shitstorms are good teachers. Not that I like them, or that yelling at them helps (turns out shitstorms don't have ears), but somehow I keep coming out with more wrinkles and a little more chill.

Hope you enjoy the links this week, enjoy your fam (or at least tolerate each other), and don't forget to tell some one who needs to relaxxxx that Wimp exists. For every time you forget to share someone is having a caffeinated grown-ass toddler tantrum, or has to drink... gasp... tea at night. The horrors.

Probably a bad idea

A Kiln / Porcelain monks with spray cans
Keigo Kamide works at Choemon Kiln in Ishikawa, and uses the same blue-and-white Kutani tradition his ancestors did since 1879. But his figures are modern: a robed guy holding a spray can, a skateboarder, a trombonist, sad little bears. Traditional hand, modern take.

A Yard Sale / Cleaning out the Star Wars closet.
If you have even a little bit of nostalgia for the 80s this eBay is gonna give you big ol dope hit of gen X garage sale love. Disney Parks insider pins, Muppets Treasure Island 30th rarities, Star Wars Celebration exclusives, rare Mondo prints. This is just fun.

A Handyman / The guy to watch before you call the guy.
Adam runs HowToHomeDIY, and it's part of the best of YouTube. Fix AC, outlets, dryers, shower pressure. I kind of can just watch this and be happy learning.

A Classic / Two minutes that reset your whole week.
An Austin band called Possum Posse dubbed their own bluegrass narration over old movie footage of a guy riding a buffalo. From 2011, when the internet wasn't a drug yet.

A Ritual / Write somebody an actual letter on Sunday.
The Sunday Letter Project sends one writing prompt every Sunday. No app, no subscription, no algo. Just a reason to sit down and write to somebody you love.

Wimp Decaf Coffee - Kahlo

Light Roast

Bekele

A light, smooth Ethiopian roast that tastes like blueberries and milk chocolate had a baby. Chemical-free decaf process, organic farm, and named after the farmer who rebuilt the whole thing from wildfire ash.

*We don't name coffees after people lightly. This one earned it.

I need 2-3 people who want to be link scouts for Wimp.

The job: send me your best internet finds. Stuff that helps us all exhale. The kind of thing that reminds us the internet used to be fun, and in some corners, still is. You know the vibe: decaffeinated, turn-the-volume-down, step-off-the-treadmill kind of stuff.

In exchange: you get a free Wimp subscription. Real decaf in the mail with your name on it. I promise to hand-pick and whisper sweet affirmations to every bean (possibly an exaggeration). If this sounds like you, reply to this email with your five best links. The folks with the best picks join the fray as link hunters.
