Wimp Decaf Coffee Co
Coffee on a saucer inside of a cafe

Hey you beautiful weirdos. I'm writing from inside the house where it's a civilized 74 degrees, while outside June is Juning all over the place — that wet-blanket Southern heat that gives you very unboundaried hugs while you roll your eyes.

I've been living in Greenville, South Carolina, almost 20 years now. The South and I don't always see eye to eye. But living somewhere that doesn't quite fit you forces you to go find your people. The freaks who know how to play, know how to cry, and know how to get down and dirty real. I've found my chosen-family.

Friday was a big one here: ten years sober. A whole decade of learning how to stay sane and aim my life at something like resembling serenity (results may vary, sorry no refunds). Feels good. Give me a keg of life-juice these days instead of beer or booze please. Give me a weekend of playing captain of a rented pontoon boat with my wife, daughter, and a couple friends, out on the lake for Father's Day.

Feel the gratitude. Here's a trick for you: take five seconds and imagine all of it gone. Not just the good stuff — ALL of it. Your favorite mug, the annoying things you wish your kids would stop doing, cool breeze on a summer evening, the feelings you didn't ask for. Gone. Everything. Nothing more to ever experience. Sit in it. The absence of that. Then watch the gratitude come crashing in like a wet golden-retriever who hasn't seen you for weeks.

Thanks for being Wimps y'all, and helping Liam and me build this little biz one tiny step at a time. Have a beautiful week, you fantastic punks!

Probably a bad idea

A Wee World / Mice have better real estate than me.
A Swedish crew called Anonymouse tucks tiny mouse-sized shops, restaurants, and bookstores into the cracks of buildings out in public. You're just walking down the street and kapow, a little cheese store.

A Name / Your name in earth fonts.
NASA and the USGS dug through 50 years of satellite photos and found bits of coastline, desert, and river shaped like every letter. Punch in your name and it builds it out of actual planet. Free, and weirdly moving.

A Rabbit Hole / Games you'll get a kick out of.
Neal Agarwal builds dozens of dumb-brilliant web toys. Scroll to the bottom of the ocean. Spend Bill Gates' money. Smash two words together and craft the whole universe. No ads, no point really, just play. It could lead to actual fun, consider yourself warned.

A Swarm / 100,000 cicada shells into a painting.
When two cicada broods crawled out together in 2024 (first time in 221 years) most of us just screamed and ran around like it was biblical plagues. We could have been like Diego Miró-Rivera, and gathered up the little empty shells they left behind and stuck them to a canvas with their own tiny claws. Patience as a medium.

A Brush / A magazine about hand-painted signs.
Before vinyl and big-box logos, somebody hand-lettered every storefront, every gold-leaf window, every diner menu. BLAG is the one magazine keeping that trade alive. Profiles, history, fat brushes, gorgeous letters. Proof that doing it by hand hits different.
