Wimp Decaf Coffee Co
Wimp Decaf Coffee Co
Coffee on a saucer inside of a cafe

I was prepping for the newsletter and pulled up the Ernest & Celestine trailer. Immediately started choking up. This week’s been the opposite of childhood softness. We spent five days in the ER with one of my kids. Discharged Wednesday. We’re okay. But I feel like I’ve been tumble-dried on high with a tub full of Legos. Ouch.

Life doesn’t make promises. We try to hold things together with routines and grocery lists, but chaos always finds a way. This week it showed up like a crazed raccoon in my inbox holding a hospital bill and a molotov cocktail.

This week I heard voices like “You should be doing more. You’re falling behind. Your exhaustion, it's weakness.” Learning to live decaf is my response to those old words. Not with hustle. With pausing. Morning light in the kitchen. Trees dancing like a happy auntie at a wedding. Feeling proud of my kiddo facing fears and being resilient and also vulnerable. Our messy little mixed family stepping up together. Decaf isn’t giving up. It’s knowing when soft is strength.

Turns out all it takes is a watercolor rodent and one polite bear to emotionally dismantle me. Probably not a bad thing. Have an amazing weekend my friends. Thx for tagging along.

A Toy / Do things that take time to learn kind of toy:
A deceptively simple Japanese skill game. Just a ball, a cup, a spike, and your full attention. It’s not about mastering tricks. It’s about meeting your fidgety hands with a challenge that rewards patience instead of panic. A good kendama session is a bit like a pour over ritual: slow, precise, and calming. This also teaches you that dropping shit, is normal, because you will — a lot.

A Book / Good Movies as Old Books
What if your favorite movie had a dusty old paperback cover? This is where that lives. Started as a side project, stuck around as a creative lifeline. Weird films, fake books, real joy. Browse the shelf, find your people.

An Animal / This kangaroo will melt your heart:
I think my wife sent this one to me. Good job Ako. She loves when she finds the decaf stuff for me — how lucky am I to have a friend who loves me like this?! Anyhow, go check it out, it's the cutest thing I've seen in ages, and it warmed my heart on a hard week.

An Article / Learn from ants:
My dear mom sent this one to me, thx mama bear! It's a great little article from a taoist writer with a silly name. It was a nice little lesson in staying loose, like ants, pivoting without making stories about it. Lots to learn from those little fellas and fellinas.

A Funny / They're not dead, they're resting:
Do you remember planking? Yeah, this is the decaf version of that. Just lie down on the floor and rest. Definitely my kind of vibe right now. We all work hard. We have to, it's a cuckoo world, sometimes ya gotta just lay down — wherever you are!
