WCK Responds After Devastating Earthquakes Hit Venezuela
Two powerful earthquakes, magnitude 7.2 and 7.5, struck Venezuela on Wednesday evening just seconds apart, collapsing buildings across the capital of Caracas and coastal communities in La Guaira. The quakes sent shockwaves across multiple states. At least 160 people have died, with hundreds more missing and injured as search and rescue efforts continue. WCK's Relief Team is already serving meals, mobilizing with longtime partners in the country to support families and first responders.
This isn't our first time on the ground in Venezuela—WCK has led multiple responses there, most recently supporting families displaced by Hurricane Beryl in 2024, Hurricane Julia in 2022, and during the migrant crisis from 2019 to 2022. This deep experience in the country allows us to respond quickly and effectively, drawing on established relationships and local knowledge.
