As May begins, we’re holding close several moments that call us to both reflection and action. During Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re reminded of the quiet and often unseen battles so many carry. In places like Sudan and Ukraine, growing instability is increasing the risks of exploitation, violence and psychological distress for families already walking through unimaginable hardship.
Because of people like you, we are able to respond with care that tends not only to physical needs, but to emotional and spiritual healing as well — offering safe spaces, counseling and compassionate support to those who need it most.
With Mother's Day just ahead, we’ll also be sharing stories of remarkable mothers whose strength and faith sustain their families through crisis. These are women who inspire us, women you help uplift every single day. Keep an eye out for our special gift guide, a meaningful way to honor the mothers in your life while extending hope to others near and far.
And as we move closer to World Refugee Day, we have something special taking shape behind the scenes — and we can’t wait to share it with you soon. In just a few short weeks, we’ll be revealing more. Email, we’re looking forward to having you with us for what’s to come.
Our 2025 Annual Report is live, and it tells your story.
This year's report captures a remarkable moment: a year when critical support systems broke down in the U.S. and globally, but you stepped into the gap anyway.
A few highlights:
4,400 churches partnering in our work
4.5 million people served globally
678,154 people in crisis received food aid, and 202,366 gained access to clean water
38,841 refugees and other immigrants served in the U.S., including 3,902 refugees who received urgent aid when executive orders froze resettlement funding
94% of those in our employment programs retained jobs after 3 months
Church leaders from all 50 states signed our statement on persecuted Christians and refugee protection
Our Annual Report goes beyond the numbers, connecting you to the stories of the refugees and other immigrants you support and the difference your generosity makes in their lives.
WORLD RELIEF AROUND THE WORLD Flourish in Focus: Real Stories of Hope
On a kitchen table, a stack of unopened mail began to grow — each envelope holding instructions, deadlines and school notes that a newly arrived refugee family couldn’t yet understand. For families rebuilding their lives in the United States, these aren’t small tasks; they’re daily moments where language, systems and uncertainty collide, even as they work hard to find their footing in a new country.
From MN to Hou: Operation PARRIS’ National Ripple Effect
When Pastor Giovanni pulled up to the grey industrial-looking building surrounded by barbed wire, he found people standing outside in the rain, during the Texas freeze, dressed for conditions they were not prepared to face. He described the scene as marked by desperation and humiliation.
Life in a Refugee Camp: Heja’s Story of Strength and Survival
Once a teacher with big dreams for her daughters, Heja is now a refugee in Chad, leading and advocating for women and girls after fleeing the violence in Sudan. Despite unimaginable loss and ongoing hardship, her story is a powerful glimpse of resilience — and the urgent needs still facing millions displaced.
“I have nothing here. I lost my home, my family, everything,” Heja says.
Press release: World Relief Pleads for Reconsideration of Proposal to Send Afghan Allies of the U.S. Military to War-Torn Democratic Republic of Congo
The current administration is considering a plan that could force up to 1,100 Afghan men, women and children to leave Qatar and choose between returning to Taliban-controlled Afghanistan or being sent to the Democratic Republic of Congo — both facing severe humanitarian crises.
According to UN Reports, the crisis in Sudan is the worst ongoing humanitarian crisis in the world:
30.4 million people need humanitarian aid, more than half the population
9 million + internally displaced, the world's largest displacement crisis
16 million of those in need are children
Since 2003, World Relief has been faithfully present on the ground in Sudan, working to meet urgent needs and walk alongside communities through ongoing challenges. Through God’s provision and the steadfast support of compassionate partners like you, this work continues to grow. Today, we are humbled to carry out programs in:
Agriculture and food security
Child development and protection
Economic empowerment
Water, sanitation, hygiene
And more!
P.S. The three-year anniversary of the war in Sudan just passed on April 15. In remembrance, we shared a message on Instagram — lifting up the people of Sudan, acknowledging the depth of the crisis and calling for peace. We invite you to follow along there to stay connected and be among the first to hear updates.
