As we journey through the third week of Lent, let us take a moment to pause and reflect. How have you observed this season so far? Where have you felt stretched, challenged or drawn closer to God? And how might you approach the weeks ahead with renewed intention?
This season carries special meaning for us at World Relief. In the aftermath of World War II, Christians responded to the crisis in war-torn Europe through fasting, prayer and sacrificial giving — an act of faith and compassion during a period of tremendous need. That faithful response became World Relief. Our story began with believers choosing to step toward suffering rather than away from it.
Today, as refugees and immigrants once again face deep uncertainty, Lent calls us to that same courageous faith — pray boldly, give generously and stand in steadfast solidarity with our neighbors.
World Relief's church resource toolkit: On The Move To Easter
God is on the move. He is on the move with over 117 million people around the world who have been displaced from their homes. So how do we, as Christians, respond? What does it look like to welcome the stranger and love our neighbor?
Here you’ll find story videos, communication templates, prayers and other tools to invite your congregation or small group to walk with Jesus and with those who have been displaced.
What would it look like to not just think outside the box, but to LIVE outside of the box as well? World Relief volunteer Rodney provides a glimpse: “If you get rid of those boxes and let God show you the wonder of his world that is inside of each single person, that’s where life really is.”
Rodney once judged immigrants, but when World Relief came to his church, he saw their stories, their humanity and his heart began to change. He discovered that true life comes when we stop boxing others in and start seeing them as God’s image-bearers.
Rodney’s transformation shows us what’s possible when we let go of fear and open our hearts. We can transform our communities — and our own lives — in ways we never imagined.

A Lenten Journey of Sacred Presence: Walking Through the Dark Night
As you observe Lent, consider how your practices of prayer, fasting or giving might become acts of solidarity with individuals like Heja. Once a confident and respected teacher in Sudan, she now finds herself surrounded by the dust of Chad, tracing the contours of survival.
In times of uncertainty, World Relief draws on decades of experience with refugees and immigrant communities to provide guidance and perspective. This includes navigating shifts in programs like PEPFAR (President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief) and Operation PARRIS (Post-Admission Refugee Reverification and Integrity Strengthening).

World Relief condemns the Department of Homeland Security’s recent memo that undermines decades of refugee protections, allowing indefinite detention and reopening of refugee status without cause, and are calling for a swift reversal to reinstate full safeguards for thoroughly vetted refugees.
At the 2026 Winter Olympic Games, Stevenson Savart made history as Haiti’s first Olympic cross-country skier! We celebrate this incredible milestone and the remarkable resilience of Haitian communities.
