Since 2003, our mission at Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) has been to honor and empower wounded warriors. And we’re committed to doing this work for decades to come.
We have an ambitious vision to cure post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), end veteran suicide, and end veteran homelessness. But we can’t achieve these goals alone. We’ll need the help of researchers, clinicians, partners — and you, Andy.
We know PTSD can be treated effectively. But it takes more than raising awareness one month a year. We must work every day to get evidence-based treatment to more warriors like Joe Stabley.
As a special forces medic in Iraq, Joe treated women and children in combat zones, leaving him with deep survivor’s guilt. After medically retiring, he suffered from undiagnosed PTSD, sleep apnea, and other service-connected conditions.
Through mental health programs like WWP Talk, Joe found healing by having someone there to listen. “WWP gives you purpose,” he explains. “That’s what keeps guys like me going.”
As veterans’ needs evolve over time — and new conflicts emerge across the globe — it’s more crucial than ever that we keep our promise to be here for our nation’s heroes.
