While in Iraq, Melvin’s Humvee struck a roadside bomb. The blast killed the soldier sitting behind him and left Melvin severely burned and injured.
Back home, he faced a grueling physical recovery, survivor’s guilt, and PTSD. His family tried to be supportive, but Melvin knew they couldn’t relate. “For a long time, I suffered in silence,” he says. “I had to make a change.”
Andy, Melvin is grateful to have found an understanding community in WWP. But thousands more veterans with PTSD still suffer in silence. You can help provide the free, life-changing programs and services they urgently need — including vital mental health support. |
