A panel of vaccine advisers appointed by the CDC voted yesterday to change a major aspect of the childhood vaccine schedule in a move some critics say is not backed by science and could reduce compliance.

What to know: The panel suggested that children under 4 receive a measles, mumps and rubella shot separately from a shot for chickenpox, rather than one initial combined vaccine, followed by another combo shot later on. It cited a small but known risk of seizures from the initial combined shots. [NBC News]
Response: The meeting itself could “sow distrust and instill fear among parents and families,” Dr. Sean O’Leary of the American Academy of Pediatrics said. Merck, which makes some childhood vaccines, said there is “years of evidence affirming the current immunization schedule.” [Politico]
Today: The panel will vote on hepatitis B vaccines for newborns, a practice questioned by anti-vaccine activists that has helped lower cases from an estimated 18,000 a year to about 20. All of the group’s recommendations are not final and will be examined by the Department of Health and Human Services. [CNN]

Ticketmaster pricing lawsuit

The Federal Trade Commission sued Ticketmaster and its parent company, Live Nation, accusing them of illegal and deceptive business practices such as coordinating with ticket brokers and then profiting off their resales, which are often at a higher price. [NBC News]

A stacked ‘SNL’ lineup

Saturday Night Live announced the hosts and musical guests for the first three episodes of Season 51, which returns on Oct. 4. First up: Bad Bunny will host, and Doja Cat will perform. See who else made the lineup, and get to know the new cast members. [Yahoo Entertainment]
