Kevin Kelly celebrated another birthday and gifted us with more amazing advice.

Here are my 5 favorite pieces:

• The greatest rewards come from working on something that nobody has a name for. If you possibly can, work where there are no words for what you do.
• Contemplating the weaknesses of others is easy; contemplating the weaknesses in yourself is hard, but it pays a much higher reward
• All the greatest gains in life — in wealth, relationships, or knowledge —come from the magic of compounding interest — amplifying small steady gains. All you need for abundance is to keep adding 1% more than you subtract on a regular basis.
• Take one simple thing — almost anything — but take it extremely seriously, as if it was the only thing in the world, or maybe the entire world is in it — and by taking it seriously you’ll light up the sky.
• That thing that made you weird as a kid could make you great as an adult — if you don’t lose it.

The danger of tying your self-worth to your net-worth
Remember that achievements themselves are impermanent and you should not tie your self-worth to them. Sure, it might be cool to have a snazzy job title or have a 6-figure salary, but these things are not going to be there forever. How To Get The Most Out Of Your Reading
This article teaches you how to read better, so that you can remember what you read about for many years.

Tips:

1. Get comfortable quitting books. Life's too short to continue reading crappy books.
   
2. Speed reading is a vanity metric. Skim broadly to find something worth reading. Then dive in slowly and deeply.
3. Choose great books. Books that stand the test of time are often the best reads.
   

Asking Better Questions
Stop asking plain yes/no questions. Questions that lead with a How? or a What? elicit better responses. Some great questions, and a one-liner on why they are wonderful:

1. What did you learn…?
   Because people don’t care what you know; only what you learned.
2. How else could this be…?
   Encourages open, option-oriented and leverage-based thinking.
3. How does this relate to…?
   Keeps someone on point, uncovers connections between things.
