Festival City takes centre stage |
August is upon us and Edinburgh is once again set to showcase its world-leading status as the Festival City. This year, we are proud to be supporting Edinburgh Festival Fringe Street Events, Edinburgh International Festival Opening Event, Edinburgh Art Festival and the Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF). These festivals along with their spectacular sister festivals are recognised as a global and cultural phenomenon and a major contributor to Scotland’s reputation as the Perfect Stage for events.
Starting the festival extravaganza today is the Edinburgh Festival Fringe (2 to 26 August) and the Edinburgh International Festival (2 to 25 August). The Fringe Street Events will transform the capital city by bringing together one of the largest and vibrant gatherings of international performers anywhere. The Edinburgh International Festival Opening Event: Where to Begin will welcome visitors from near and far to come together and enjoy an immersive sensory multi-art form experience in the magical grounds of George Heriot’s School.
Next Friday, the Edinburgh Art Festival (9 to 25 August) will mark its 20th milestone anniversary and will showcase the work of over 200 Scottish and international artists in 30 venues across the city. The festival’s ambitious and diverse programme of exhibitions, events and works, much of which is free to attend, is a true testament to visual art in all its myriad forms.
The relaunched and supercharged Edinburgh International Film Festival (15 to 21 August) is celebrating its 77th edition with a plethora of World and UK premieres and pioneering works. Guests in attendance include Damian Lewis and Kelly Macdonald who will present the World Premiere of Euros Lyn’s The Radleys, along with Alex Garland and Andrew Macdonald who will headline the industry programme. Tickets are now on sale. |
