This year’s been a doozy, right? It feels like just yesterday we were easing out of pandemic life, but instead of smooth sailing, we got a hurricane and the wildest election season yet. Is this what Elizabethans felt like in those suffocating corsets? Every day, I’m just glad if I remember how to inhale.
But when things get heavy, there’s one thing that never lets me down: coffee with the people I love. Sitting down together reminds me we’re all just bobble-headed babies at heart, looking for a little connection. None of us got exactly what we needed in life—but here we are, united by the bold choice to love coffee enough to skip the buzz. Frackin' badasses.
Make today magic. Grab coffee with someone who makes you laugh and reminds you of your truest self. Buy a coffee for a stranger, someone who’s different from you. Remind the world there’s way more kindness and curiosity out there than any of us realize.
XOXO, Matthew

Five Decaf links of the week:
An Article / We need more calm companies: In a world where companies burn through cash and people, Calm Companies offer meaningful work, resilience, and a reminder that success doesn’t have to cost us our sanity. Great essay.
A Product / Meet the Brick!: The gadget that turns your phone from a distraction machine into a peaceful, notification-free haven (because Instagram will survive without you… for a while). I use one and freakin’ love it. (not sponsored).
A Video / Dancing Guy Style Leadership: Derek Sivers’ First Follower talk shows us that movements aren’t just about the lone, shirtless leader—they’re sparked by the courageous first follower, who turns "lone nut" into leader and inspires others to join. True impact? It’s about brave followers who show others the way.
A Book / Furiously Happy: by Jenny Lawson, is so damn funny, but also a raw look at life with mental illness, celebrating the wild joys and quirks that make survival both ridiculous and wonderful.
An Instagramist / @lizandmollie: is like a hilarious therapy session for anyone who’s ever had a job, a boss, or a nervous breakdown in a meeting—it’s full of cartoons that somehow make you feel both attacked and comforted in the best way possible.
