Coffee on a saucer inside of a cafe

Hey Wimpertons,

Watching Kuma, Wimp's loving bear-buddy mascot morph around like this crazy AI hallucination felt funny and also a bit like what it's like to be alive in 2024 right now. On the surface things can feel cute and warm, but maybe a little unsettling underneath. Just me?

The last 3 months of Wimp have been humbling, and every week I'm learning more about what I don't know (yet), and more about what it takes to build a meaningful company calmly. This week the lesson is about planning. Most of my life I've relied on intense ADHD energy to drive productivity and intensity in my work. I've achieved a lot, but it's cost me a lot energetically and emotionally.

When I make margin in my schedule to plan then I'm literally giving myself the gift of concentration and focus. It's not as exciting (in the moment) as hustle, but the impact and the outcomes are foundations that I can build a real company on. Something that could be a living for not just me, but others too.

What's something about planning you've learned that you can share with me or the rest of us? (reply to this email. I answer every single response I get).

Probably a bad idea

A thing / Coffee & Donuts Please:
Arna Miller's illustrations are awkwardly perfect delights of words with characters that seem to speak aloud what's going on inside many of us.

A blog post / What you don't see.:
Shane Parrish is a NYT bestseller of several books and this uniquely personal post about the difficulties of running and building a business may connect for many of you. I appreciate anytime people who others see with rose colored glasses pull back the curtains to show the real deal. Thx Shane.

A nothing / Get Nothing App:
In an age of hyperbole about products, I appreciate the honesty of this gem. It's an oldie, but still a goodie.

A service in SF / Learn art & spanish, at the same time.:
My friend Edurne runs this cool program in San Francisco. If you're a bay area peep with kiddos, or know someone who is, I highly recommend this program. This kind of thing feels so decaf to me.

A book / A Simpler Life:
I'm a big fan of everything that The School of Life puts out, but this is one that's on my list. I'm looking for ways to simplify, and take better care of myself. Maybe you too? This book looks like a sweet set of notes and principles to learn from.

Probably a bad idea
