How we got here.
We worked together at Lyris.
Andy grew up in New Zealand and got his first email job in London, building emails in Dreamweaver and uploading them to Emailvision.
Matt had been in email marketing since the early 2000s and was working at a London agency when Lyris, an email service provider, bought it. We both ended up at Lyris, and that’s where we first worked together.
We both moved to San Francisco.
In 2010 Lyris asked Matt to move to its San Francisco office, and Andy moved over with Lyris too.
Andy went on to work at Campaign Monitor, Emma, Sailthru and Docusign, in roles across professional services, strategy, product marketing and sales engineering.
Matt co-founded Kickdynamic.
In 2012 Matt moved back to London to co-found Kickdynamic, which put live content into email: countdown timers, live inventory, polls and local weather that updated the moment someone opened the email. Litmus acquired Kickdynamic in November 2021.
Andy acquired Email Love.
Email Love was started by Andy’s friend Rob Hope, the designer behind One Page Love. Rob launched it in September 2019 with more than 100 handpicked emails, and Andy acquired it from him in 2023.
From the start, every email in the library has been the real coded email, so you can read the code, check the mobile view and watch GIFs play. The library now grows by hundreds of emails a day.
We joined forces in 2024.
In 2024 we started building Email Love together, and we released our Figma plugin that June. Teams design emails in Figma with their own design system and export production-ready HTML to 28 platforms, including Braze, Klaviyo, Iterable and Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
Because emails are built from a team’s own components, AI assistants like Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor can build on-brand emails too. StreetEasy now goes from a campaign brief to Iterable with Claude, Figma and our plugin.
Every year someone declares email dead, and every year it keeps delivering 42x ROI. Even as we enter the agentic era, email is here to stay, and we will continue to love it.
