Okay, this isn’t the prettiest of emails at all. There’s a lot that could be improved with the subject line and sender name experience, too. But what blew me away was how hyper-relevant and thoughtful the content was in this shipping notification email.
Buying plants online is a dicey affair, as any gardener might already know. Who knows what happens to them while they’re being shipped. So what this shipping notification does perfectly is share with you the important shipping details, but provides all of the information and content you could need to know how to successfully care for your plants when they arrive.
And if you’re not a reader, they’ve shared a link to a YouTube video so you can consume the content in a different format. They’re giving the recipient options.
You might be wondering if this is too much content for a shipping notification email and why not just link out to a blog post? It takes too much effort to click a link. And, this email’s sitting in my inbox now. So it’s a handy reference email to come back to time and time again. Every time I do, I’m reminded about how useful this company’s been to help make sure the plants they’ve sent me are going to survive. Increasing the probability of buying from them in the future.
