Nonprofit emails raise money, mobilize action, and report back to the people who made both possible. This hub collects curated sends from organizations like Amnesty International, RSPCA, Movember and Human Rights Watch, covering appeals, impact reports, campaign updates and year-end pushes.
The strongest examples share a discipline commercial email rarely needs: one story, told concretely, with the donor as the protagonist. A single named beneficiary outperforms statistics; a specific ask ('$32 funds one kit') outperforms 'donate'; and the impact report, the send that proves what last year's gifts did, is what earns the next appeal the right to ask.
Design-wise the grid runs from urgent campaign reds to quiet editorial restraint, and the best organizations match the register to the message rather than shouting uniformly. See the adjacent formats in newsletter emails, event emails and year in review emails.

Appeals (the direct ask), impact reports, program and campaign updates, event and volunteer invitations, petition and advocacy actions, and year-end giving pushes. Healthy programs balance asks with reporting so the list hears 'look what you did' as often as 'please give'.
Specificity: one person or place, one concrete outcome, one ask with a number attached. Urgency helps when it is real (matching deadlines, disaster response). The donor should finish the email feeling like the hero of the story, not the audience of the organization's.
Year-end dominates: a large share of individual giving lands in December, with a spike around Giving Tuesday and the final 48 hours of the year. The programs in this hub build to that arc all autumn, then spend spring reporting the impact.
Enough to keep the relationship warm without every send being an ask; a common healthy pattern is two to four sends a month with no more than half of them appeals. The reliable ratio-keeper is the impact story between asks.
