The 50 best subject lines, curated from 3,557 real Sale emails sent by 661 brands. No invented examples. Updated July 2026.
The best sale subject lines name the deal and get out of the way. Across 3,330 sale subject lines in our library, 37% state an exact percent off, and the average runs 37 characters, short enough to survive a mobile inbox. Specific numbers, honest deadlines, and one clear offer beat clever wordplay.
Lead with the number when it is strong. 37% of the sale lines in our library name an exact percent (and 49% use discount language of some kind), and lines like Adore Me's "New Additions to the Sale! Shop Up to 70% OFF 🛍️" let the number do the persuading. If your discount is modest, lead with the product or the deadline instead and reveal the offer inside the email.
Anchor urgency to a real deadline, the way PINK does with "Extra 20% Off Sale Ends Tomorrow 💔". Vague pressure like Joybird's "👀 Don't miss out on this offer" can work occasionally but wears thin fast. Never quietly extend a final-hours sale; subscribers notice and stop trusting your countdowns.
Send the announcement when your list is most active, typically morning in your subscribers' local time, then one reminder in the closing hours. Keep the sale window genuinely short so the deadline carries weight. Resist a third or fourth send: repetition trains subscribers to ignore the first email and wait.
Reserve caps for one element, usually the offer itself, as in "Shop Up to 70% OFF", never the full line. With sale lines averaging 37 characters, a fully capitalized subject reads as shouting and can hurt deliverability when stacked with symbols. Nordstrom Rack's "Stuart Weitzman Up to 50% Off" proves sentence case can still signal a serious markdown.
